The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
