He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And hath fear, 9 You neglect. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olives and palms 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Dust shall cover them 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
