The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 On a Great Day, 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
