Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Blest be He in whose hand is the dominion, and He is over everything Potent. 1 Who hath created life and death that He may try you which of you is best in conduct; and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving, 2 He Who created the seven heavens one above another: No want of proportion wilt thou see in the Creation of (Allah) Most Gracious. So turn thy vision again: seest thou any flaw? 3 Then look again and yet again, your sight will return to you in a state of humiliation and worn out. 4 And We have certainly beautified the nearest heaven with stars and have made [from] them what is thrown at the devils and have prepared for them the punishment of the Blaze. 5 For those who believe not in their Lord there is the punishment of Hell; and what a wretched destination 6 When they are flung therein they hear its roaring as it boileth up, 7 As it would burst with rage. Whenever a (fresh) host is flung therein the wardens thereof ask them: Came there unto you no warner? 8 And they will answer: "Surely; a warner came to us, but we denied him, and said: 'God did not send down any thing; you are greatly deluded, in fact.'" 9 They will further say: "Had we but listened or used our intelligence, we should not (now) be among the Companions of the Blazing Fire!" 10 and thus they will confess their sin; far from God's mercy are the inmates of Hell. 11 [As against this,] behold, for those who stand in awe of God although He is beyond the reach of their perception, there is forgiveness in store and a great reward. 12 Whether you say a thing secretly or openly, He knows the innermost secrets of your hearts. 13 Can He who has created not know (His creation)? He is all-penetrating, all-aware. 14
