The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
Almighty Allah's Truth.
