The dwellers of the forest also rejected the messengers. 176 When Shu'aib said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 177 I am for you a faithful Messenger, so fear you God, and obey you me. 178 so fear God, and obey me. 179 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 180 ۞ "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud). 181 "And weigh with the true and straight balance. 182 Wrong not mankind in their goods, and do not evil, making mischief, in the earth. 183 And keep your duty unto Him Who created you and the generations of the men of old. 184 They replied, "You are bewitched. 185 And thou art but a human being like unto us, and we deem thee to be of the liars. 186 So cause a fragment of the sky to fall on us, if you are truthful." 187 Answered [Shu'ayb]: "My Sustainer knows fully well what you are doing." 188 But they gave him the lie. And thereupon suffering overtook them on a day dark with shadows: and verily, it was the suffering of an awesome day! 189 Verily herein is a sign; but most of them are not believers. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
