The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and gently take it away; 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
