The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
