The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 160 When their brother Lut said unto them: fear ye not? 161 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 162 So fear Allah, and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no hire therefor; my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 164 What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing." 166 They said: if thou desistest not, O Lut! thou shalt surely be of those driven forth. 167 He said: "I do detest your doings." 168 Lord, save me and my family from their deeds." 169 So We delivered him and his family,- all 170 except an old woman who stayed behind, 171 and then We utterly destroyed the others, 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 174 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
