Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
