The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
