۞ And certainly We gave to Ibrahim his rectitude before, and We knew him fully well. 51 When he said to his father and his people: What are these images to whose worship you cleave? 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said: Verily ye and your fathers were in plain error. 54 They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?" 55 He said, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. It was He who created them and I testify to this fact". 56 And, by Allah! I will certainly do something against your idols after you go away, turning back. 57 He shattered them all, except the biggest among them, that perhaps they may question it. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 They said: We heard a youth called Ibrahim speak of them. 60 "Bring him before the people," they said, "that they may bear witness." 61 They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said: rather he hath wrought it, this big one of them; so question them, if they ever speak. 63 Then they thought and observed: "Surely you are yourselves unjust." 64 Then they were utterly put to confusion saying, 'Very well indeed thou knowest these do not speak.' 65 Said [Abraham]: "Do you then worship, instead of God, something that cannot benefit you in any way, nor harm you? 66 Fie on you and on what you serve besides Allah; what! do you not then understand? 67 They said, "Burn him and help your deities, if you are resolved to do something." 68 We said, 'O fire, be coolness and safety for Abraham!' 69 And they desired a war on him, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 So We delivered him and Lot, and brought them to the land We had blessed for all the people. 71 And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac), and (a grandson) Ya'qub (Jacob). Each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge, and saved him from a people who acted villainously and were certainly wicked and disobedient. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy: for he was one of the Righteous. 75
