The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 Living therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
