Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
