The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
