The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 Fear Allah and obey me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 gardens and fountains. 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
