And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
