Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say, "It has been revealed to me that a band of the jinn listened [to the Quran] and they said, "We have heard a really wonderful recital, 1 'It gives guidance to the Right, and we have believed therein: we shall not join (in worship) any (gods) with our Lord. 2 'And Exalted is the Majesty of our Lord: He has taken neither a wife nor a son. 3 Certainly the foolish among us say preposterous things of God. 4 and that “we had thought that men and jinn would never speak a lie about Allah”, 5 'True, there were persons among mankind who took shelter with persons among the Jinns, but they increased them in folly. 6 And indeed they imagined, even as ye imagined, that Allah will not raise any one. 7 And we sought to reach the heaven; then we found it filled with a strong guard and darting meteors. 8 There, we would sit to eavesdrop, but now an eavesdropper finds a flame in wait for him. 9 and that “we do not know whether evil is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends to direct them to the Right Way”; 10 Some of us are righteous, but some are otherwise, we are sects that differ. 11 We realised that we could not weaken the power of God on earth, nor outpace Him by running away. 12 When we heard the guidance, we believed in it; and whosoever believes in his Lord, he shall fear neither paltriness nor vileness. 13 ‘And that some among us are Muslims and some are the unjust; and whoever has accepted Islam – it is they who have thought rightly.’ 14 ‘And as for the unjust – they are the fuel of hell.’” 15 If they (the idolaters) tread the right path, We shall give them to drink of water in abundance 16 that We might try them therein. And whosoever turns away from the Remembrance of his Lord, He will thrust him into chastisement rigorous. 17 And [know] that all worship is due to God [alone]: hence, do not invoke anyone side by side with God! 18 And when the slave of Allah stood up in prayer to Him, they crowded on him, almost stifling. 19
