The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
