The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 and gently take it away; 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
