He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 So you are after him! 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And whereas he fears, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
