The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its midmorning, 1 and by the moon when she follows him, 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 and by the night when it enshrouds him! 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 And the earth and Him Who extended it, 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 and inspired it with knowledge of evil and piety, 8 He who nourishes it will surely be successful, 9 And he who confines it will surely come to grief. 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 When among them the great wretch arose, 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). 15
