[AND the tribe of] Ad gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 "Do you build high palaces on every high place, while you do not live in them? 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
