[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 Behold, Shu'aib said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 179 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and cause no loss to others. 181 and weigh with the straight balance, 182 and diminish not the goods of the people, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 “And fear Him Who created you and the earlier creations.” 184 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! 185 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us, and indeed we think thou art a liar! 186 "Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!" 187 He said, "My Lord has full knowledge of all your actions." 188 But they cried him lies; then there seized them the chastisement of the Day of Shadow; assuredly it was the chastisement of a dreadful day. 189 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 190 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 191
