The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
