The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and shade extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
