He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to a rich man, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And whereas he fears, 9 you ignore him. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
