Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
