The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
