When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 They said: nay! we have come to thee with that whereof they have been dubitating. 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 And verily they are on a pathway lasting. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood [i.e. the people of Madyan (Midian) to whom Prophet Shu'aib was sent by Allah), were also Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.). 78 So We punished them too. They are both situated by the highway, clearly visible. 79
