And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 Do not betray me 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 no caring friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
