۞ No sooner the example of the son of Mary was mentioned than, lo and behold, your people raised a clamour 57 and said: “Who is better, our deities or he?” They said so only out of contentiousness. They are a disputatious people. 58 He is nothing but a slave on whom We bestowed favour, and We made him a pattern for the Children of Israel. 59 if We had so wished, We could have appointed angels in exchange for you to succeed you on the earth. 60 It is knowledge of the Hour; doubt not concerning it, and follow me. This is a straight path. 61 And let not Satan bar you [from it] - for, verily, he is your open foe! 62 And when 'Iesa (Jesus) came with (Our) clear Proofs, he said: "I have come to you with Al-Hikmah (Prophethood), and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) in which you differ, therefore fear Allah and obey me, 63 For God, He is my Lord and your Lord: so worship Him: that is a straight path." 64 But the factions among them differed. Then woe unto those who do wrong from the doom of a painful day. 65 Do they only wait for the Hour that it shall come upon them suddenly, while they perceive not? 66 Friends will turn into enemies on that day, except those who fear and follow the straight path. 67
