The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 It [the Quran] is nothing but revelation sent down to him. 4 something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 Thus He revealed unto His bondman whatsoever He revealed. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth? 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 close to the Garden of Refuge. 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 [And withal,] the eye did not waver, nor yet did it stray: 17 He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 And Manat the other third? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 that, lo and behold, is an unfair division! 22 They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 But it is to God that the Hereafter and this world belong. 25

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
