The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
