Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set forth 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
