Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
No, by the moon! 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 A warning to mortals, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 Until the certainty had come upon us. 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
