The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
