He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 So you are after him! 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and in awe of God 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 and angelic scribes. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
