The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. THESE ARE MESSAGES of revelation - of a discourse clear in itself and clearly showing the truth. 1 How strongly the unbelievers will wish that they had been Muslims. 2 (Muhammad), leave them alone to eat and enjoy themselves and let their desires deceive them; they will soon know (the Truth). 3 We never destroyed a village whose term had not already been decreed. 4 Every nation can only live for the time appointed for it. 5 And they say: "O you (Muhammad SAW) to whom the Dhikr (the Quran) has been sent down! Verily, you are a mad man. 6 Why do you not bring down the angels upon us, if you are truthful?" 7 We send not the angels down except with the truth (i.e. for torment, etc.), and in that case, they (the disbelievers) would have no respite! 8 Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian. 9 AND, INDEED, [O Prophet,] even before thy time did We send [Our apostles] unto communities of old 10 and never yet came an apostle to them without their deriding him. 11 Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals. 12 That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away. 13 Had We opened a door for them in the sky through which they could easily pass, 14 yet would they say, 'Our eyes have been dazzled; nay, we are a people bewitched!' 15
