O (you) Messengers! Eat of the Taiyibat [all kinds of Halal (legal) foods which Allah has made legal (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables, fruits, etc.)], and do righteous deeds. Verily! I am Well-Acquainted with what you do. 51 “And indeed this religion of yours is one religion only and I am your Lord, therefore fear Me.” 52 Then they cut their affair among them in regard to the Scriptures; each band in that which is with them rejoicing. 53 Leave them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Do they think that by increasing their wealth and children 55 We hasten in good works for them? No, they are not aware. 56 Indeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord 57 And those who believe in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord, 58 And they who do not associate anything with their Lord 59 and who give whatever they [have to] give with their hearts trembling at the thought that unto their Sustainer they must return: 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works and shall be the foremost in doing so. 61 And [withal.] We do not burden any human being with more than he is well able to bear: for with Us is a record that speaks the truth [about what men do and can do]; and none shall be wronged. 62 Nay, their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this; and their deeds too vary from the way (mentioned above). They will persist in these deeds 63 But when We will strike with torment those (unbelievers) who are rich, they will start to cry for help. 64 “Do not implore this day; you will not be helped by Us.” 65 My Signs were rehearsed to you and you turned back on your heels and took to flight, 66 In arrogance; talking nonsense about the Quran, and left him like one telling fables by night. 67 Have they, then, never tried to understand this word [of God]? Or has there [now] come to them something that never came to their forefathers of old? 68 Or is it that they were unaware of their Messenger and were therefore repelled by him for he was a stranger to them? 69 Or they say, “He is afflicted by a demon”; in fact he brought the Truth to them, and most of them dislike the Truth. 70 Had truth been subject to their whims the heavens and the earth and all those within them would have been depraved. In fact We had sent them their reminder, but they turned away from good advice. 71 Or dost thou [O Muhammad] ask of them any worldly recompense? But [they ought to know that] recompense from thy Sustainer is best, since He is the best of providers! 72 Assuredly thou art calling them to a straight path; 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are from the path deviating. 74 ۞ And though We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, still they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 And assuredly We took hold of them with the torment, yet they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor did they entreat. 76 Until, when We open for them the gate of severe punishment, then lo! They will be plunged into destruction with deep regrets, sorrows and in despair. 77
