HENCE, [remember how it was] when thy Sustainer summoned Moses: "Go unto those evil doing people. 10 the nation of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Me' 11 He said: "My Lord! I fear that they will brand me a liar. 12 and "my breast is straitened and my tongue is not fluent; so send Aaron as well; 13 Moreover, they keep a grave charge [pending] against me, and I fear that they will slay me." 14 Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you, listening. 15 And come together unto Pharaoh and say: Lo! we bear a message of the Lord of the Worlds, 16 That you should send the children of Israel with us.' 17 The Pharaoh said, "Did we not bring you up in our home as an infant and did you not live with us for many years 18 Yet you were ungrateful and have done the deed you did' 19 (Moses) replied: "I did do that and I was in the wrong, 20 So I fled from you when I feared you, then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me of the apostles; 21 Now this is the favour that you tauntingly remind me of: that you enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?" 23 Said Moosa, “Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them; if you believe.” 24 Pharaoh said to those around him: "Do you hear (what he says)?" 25 He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients.' 26 Pharaoh said to the audience: "This Messenger of yours who has been sent to you is simply mad." 27 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the East and the Lord of the West and all that lies between them, if you have sense." 28 'If you take any other god except myself' he (Pharaoh) replied, 'you shall be thrown into prison' 29 He said, 'What, even though I brought thee something so manifest?' 30 He (Pharaoh) replied: 'Show us your sign, if you are of the truthful' 31 So he cast his staff, and behold, it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew forth his hand, thereupon it shone bright before the beholders. 33
