The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 in an exposed parchment 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
