The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 will be easy, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
