Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Ha Mim 1 I swear by the illustrious Book. 2 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand. 3 And Lo! in the Source of Decrees, which We possess, it is indeed sublime, decisive. 4 Should We withdraw the admonition from you because you are a people far gone in transgression? 5 And how many a prophet We sent among the ancients. 6 And never came there a Prophet to them but they used to mock at him. 7 Then We destroyed those who were stronger than these in prowess, and the case of the ancients has gone before, 8 If thou askest them, 'Who created the heavens and earth?' they will say, 'The All-mighty, the All-knowing created them.' 9 It is He who has made the earth for you as a cradle and has made roads therein so that you will perhaps seek guidance. 10 He Who sent down water from the sky in a determined measure, and thereby We revived a dead land: likewise will you be raised up (from the earth) -- 11 And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount. 12 so that perhaps when you ride them, you will recall the bounties of your Lord and when you establish your control over it you would say, "Glory belongs to Him who has made it subservient to us when we would not have been able to do so ourselves. 13 “And indeed we have to return to our Lord.” 14 AND YET, they attribute to Him offspring from among some of the beings created by Him! Verily, most obviously bereft of all gratitude is man! 15
