Al-Waaqe'ah 3 of 3
۞ Nay, I swear by the places of the stars - 75 (and that is indeed a mighty oath, did you but know it) 76 That it is a Recitation honourable. 77 In Book well-guarded, 78 Only they can reach it who are clean (of mind). 79 a sending down from the Lord of all the Worlds. 80 So is this the matter regarding which you laze? 81 And make [the thanks for] your provision that you deny [the Provider]? 82 Then why do you not (intervene) when (the soul of a dying person) reaches the throat? 83 And ye the while (sit) looking on,- 84 and We are nearer to him than you, although you cannot see Us -- 85 Wherefore then, if ye are not to be requited 86 Cause ye it not to return, if ye say sooth? 87 But if he [the dying person] is one of those brought near to God, 88 there shall be calmness and ease, a Garden of Delight. 89 And if he was of the companions of the right, 90 he will be greeted with, "Peace be to you," by those on the Right. 91 And if he is one of those who give the lie (to this Message) and go astray, 92 then he will be served boiling water, 93 And roasting at hell-fire. 94 That indeed is the absolute truth. 95 Then praise your Lord, the most supreme. 96

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
