The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
