And [yet,] they have a sign [of Our power to create and to resurrect] in the lifeless earth which We make alive, and out of which We bring forth grain, whereof they may eat; 33 We made in it gardens of date-palms and vines, and We caused springs to gush forth 34 So that they may eat of its fruit; yet it was not done by their hands. Then why do they not acknowledge thanks? 35 Exaltations to Him who created pairs of all the things the earth produces and of themselves, and that of which they have no knowledge. 36 They have a sign in the night: We withdraw from it the [light of] day -- and they are left in darkness. 37 And the sun -- it runs to a fixed resting-place; that is the ordaining of the All-mighty, the All-knowing. 38 and [in] the moon, for which We have determined phases [which it must traverse] till it becomes like an old date-stalk, dried-up and curved: 39 Neither is it allowable to the sun that it should overtake the moon, nor can the night outstrip the day; and all float on in a sphere. 40 And a sign unto them is that We bear their offspring in a laden ship. 41 And We have created for them of the like thereunto, so on them they ride. 42 We could have drowned them if We pleased, and none would have answered their cry for help, nor would they have been saved, 43 save as a mercy from Us, and enjoyment for a while. 44 And [yet,] when they are told, "Beware of [God's insight into] all that lies open before you and all that is hidden from you, so that you might be graced with His mercy," [most men choose to remain deaf;] 45 And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they are from it turning away. 46 And when it is said to them, "Spend from that which Allah has provided for you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Should we feed one whom, if Allah had willed, He would have fed? You are not but in clear error." 47 They say: “When will this threat (of Resurrection) come to pass? Tell us if indeed you are truthful.” 48 They await only but a single Saihah (shout, etc.), which will seize them while they are disputing! 49 and they will not even be able to make a testament, nor to return to their households. 50
