Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 From Firon; surely he was haughty, (and) one of the extravagant. 31 And We knowingly chose them, among all others of their time. 32 And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 “There is nothing except our dying just once, and we will not be raised.” 35 “Therefore bring back our forefathers, if you are truthful!” 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them, [for] indeed, they were criminals. 37 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, out of play. 38 We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand. 39 The Day of Decision is the appointed time for all. 40 The Day when Maulan (a near relative) cannot avail Maulan (a near relative) in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 except for those to whom God grants mercy. He is Majestic and All-merciful. 42
