In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou folded in garments! 1 stand up to pray for much of the night. 2 Half of it, or lessen it a little, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 Behold, We shall bestow upon thee a weighty message 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 And leave them to Me – these wealthy deniers – and give them some respite. 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 And food that will stick in the throat, and painful torment 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you – the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 Then how shall ye, if ye deny (Allah), guard yourselves against a Day that will make children hoary-headed?- 17 The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. 18 Indeed this is nothing but a Good Counsel; so let him who will take a way leading to his Lord. 19
