The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 Created man, 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 The sun and moon rotate in a predestined orbit. 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice), 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 13 He created man of clay like, unto pottery. 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 [He is] the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunrise, and the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunset. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 but has created a barrier between them so that they will not merge totally. 20 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 21 From these seas come forth pearls and coral. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
